Palliative care funding review
The palliative care funding review was announced by Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley in July 2010. In March 2012, the Department of Health committed £1.8 million to eight pilot sites across England to help collect the information needed to develop a new, fairer funding system for both adult and children’s palliative care services.
The pilots were set up following a recommendation from the independent Palliative Care Funding Review, which made a number of proposals on how to make sure that the funding of palliative care providers was fair and transparent.
