The evaluation report

Your evaluation report should include

  • an executive summary
  • an introduction, which includes
    • a brief description of the organisation, service or project under evaluation
    • a concise explanation of why the evaluation was done
    • details of who did the evaluation
  • details of your evaluation methodologies
  • a summary of the information you collected during the evaluation
  • an analysis of that information
  • an interpretation of that analysis: ie what does it mean in practice
  • recommendations for action based on the evaluation
  • appendices – any other relevant documents can be included here

When you are thinking about the style of your report, ask yourself

  • who you are writing it for?
  • what do they need to do with the report?
  • what do you need to include and how do you need to present it so they can use it most effectively?
