The following three consultation documents build on the White Paper Equity and excellence: liberating the NHS
1. Liberating the NHS: commissioning for patients – consultation on proposals
- provides more detail on proposals in the White Paper for putting local consortia of GP practices, supported by an independent NHS Commissioning Board, in charge of commissioning services to best meet the needs of local people
- seeks views on how the proposals can best be put into practice
2. Liberating the NHS: Increasing democratic legitimacy in health
- provides further information on proposals for increasing local democratic legitimacy in health, through a clear and enhanced role for local government.
- together with Liberating the NHS: commissioning for patient, sets out the strategy for commissioning of health, care and wellbeing.
3. Liberating the NHS: regulating healthcare providers
- outlines proposals on foundation trusts and the establishment of Monitor as an independent economic regulator for health and adult social care
- seeks views on specific consultation questions
