Dying for Change
15 November 2010
This pamphlet, written by Charles Leadbetter and Jake Garber and inspired by the deaths of Charles Leadbetter’s parents, argues for improvements to existing end of life care services
- making end of life advance care plans the norm
- more palliative care training for more people in the medical profession
- greater integration of care services provided by the public, private and voluntary sectors.
It also suggests radical innovations
- a new infrastructure of home hospices
- the creation of a compassionate care benefit
- a properly trained volunteer support network providing palliative care.
