Alzheimer’s Society’s Counting the Cost report reveals that people with dementia often spend longer in hospital than people without the condition receiving the same treatment.

It

  • aims to improve the quality of care for people with dementia in Britain’s hospitals.
  • calls for nurses to be empowered with specialist training
  • calls for the average amount of time people with dementia stay in hospital to be reduced by a week.

This could save the NHS over £80 million per year.
