Counting the cost
caring for people with dementia
08 July 2010
Alzheimer’s Society’s Counting the Cost report reveals that people with dementia often spend longer in hospital than people without the condition receiving the same treatment.
It
- aims to improve the quality of care for people with dementia in Britain’s hospitals.
- calls for nurses to be empowered with specialist training
- calls for the average amount of time people with dementia stay in hospital to be reduced by a week.
This could save the NHS over £80 million per year.
